Dear People of the Diocese of Olympia,

We on the Bishop Search Committee are in the final preparations for our Discernment Retreat together from February 15-17. We are excited to gather as a team with the final group of candidates and enter into this next and very important phase of the search process.

In the week following the conclusion of our Discernment Retreat, the Search Committee will present our slate of candidates for the next Bishop of Olympia to the Joint Board. The Joint Board will then communicate the initial slate to the whole Diocese on February 29.

The Search Committee wants to thank you for your prayers throughout this process; we have felt them and have been lifted up by them! We earnestly invite you to pray for us while we are on retreat with our candidates for those three days. Please also keep our candidates in your prayers as they discern their individual calls in conversation with us, their families, and the Holy Spirit.  And finally, please continue to pray for our team as we continue to seek God’s will and discern the slate from which you will vote for our next bishop and for the Transition Committee, who will take up their task when ours is complete.

With gratitude and hope,

The Bishop Search Committee
